It's amazing how Richie has to dumb down his playing to accommodate vocals. See Arthur's Museum and Fever Dream, the releases before and after this 1989 release. This 1989 release has Richie letting go and giving it hell. And boy does he let it out and shine with some technical playing! No wonder Poison tapped him to replace the drug-addled C.C. Deville.
Listen to this and see Richie at his finest and I think you will agree with me that this guy can really play.
