Did Tiny Tim have anything to offer music? This album is especially suspect, since it was produced during his flash-in-the-pan wave of popularity. That someone took him, pulled the best out of him, added lush orchestration and a brilliant playlist that covered the genres of yesteryear's catalogue is the surprise for anyone listening to what they thought was a media joke. TT's forgotten "almost-standards" are a piece of Americana that spans from maudlin to silly to celebratory to moving. Yes, the silliness is there as Entr'actes, but the production value of this album is stunning. It answers the question, "What would a musical genius do with the likes of Tiny Tim?" Almost 50 years later, I still find myself slipping one of the tracks into a playlist from time to time. And it's a lot of fun--children love it. If anything, it serves as a series of snapshots of what folks listened to during the last ten decades.
