I agree with the voter from Nov 17th 2016 more than with the one before. And one more word: Music should be varied and simply electrifying. The old Mariilion was...
Since 1984 Marillion was MY band. Of course then Fish departed the group. Since then, This Marillion is NOT what it was, especially the new vocalist. This guy has the MOST annoying vocals every recorded. This "new" band should really call Fish back or simply retire. Pack up their toys and give up.
I cannot listen to this crap. Marillion is puking out a new CD every year now. Its a consolidated elevator noise and a effing screech by the vocal artist. Please stop... its BAD, very bad.
This is a one epic failure and a joke to us all.
I have been a Marillion fan since the Fish days and Really enjoyed the metomorphosis Mr Hogarth brought the band.As a professional musician which I am I would give this new Marillion album a 5/5 for its musicianship, mixing and audio production.Petes Bass is so melodic and wonderfully recorded and used to drive the songs on the album along ,the Keys are nothing short of Majestic ,the pads and piano fills are lush and used Brilliantly to landscape Fabulous Textured Backgrounds for Mr Hogarths Dark tales.
I love the way the Lead guitar is used more sparingly to Great Effect and it really compliments the songs.
As a progressive rock suite of compositions it is faultless maybe even too perfect .one of Marillions best ,I just wish the deep dark lyrical content hadn't left me feeling so down enotionally...Every song packs a punch and is Beautifully sung ,I think the Leavers is an outstanding track although new kings seems to be the one generating all the airplay and subsequent discussions.
